“Howard’s work with our daughter over the past year and a half has been amazing! She started working with him as a very self deprecating child—ashamed of her mistakes and wasting hours and burning through every eraser she had to write one simple sentence in the quest for perfection that would not come. We knew she was dyslexic from kindergarten (because of her older brother’s struggles) and had started her with a County Reading Specialist, who, although very kind, was not trained to work with dyslexics in a systematic, step by step way, and reinforced some of public school’s worst approaches—guess the word by looking at the picture.

Howard has steadily built rapport with her and earned her respect by sharing his own childhood struggles with dyslexia and by showing her that she can learn and that it’s okay to make mistakes and to benefit by learning from them.
